January Silbury Hill

This Neolithic monument

close to the village of Avebury

roughly compares in height and volume to

contemporary Egyptian pyramids.

The largest man-made mound in Europe.

Why was this mysterious hill built?

Every time I  look at it it makes me really think.

Question everything and learn.

I was passing Silbury Hill last year when the fields

around it were covered with snow and the moat had frozen.

It looked more magical than ever.

I wanted to capture the feeling of that coldness

but also the radiating magic that this 4,000 year old Pagan mound conveys.

This is the view from Swallow Head Spring.
